Happy Beltane!

Welcome to our little blog/update section of the Beessential online shop. I want to start off by saying how grateful I am for all of our followers, supporters, and patrons. You all inspire us to continue chasing after this dream of ours and we couldn’t do what we’re doing without our friends and families to support and encourage us every step of the way.

The first of May marks the beginning of Beltane, the Pegan term for the beginning of spring, often referred to as Mayday by most folks in our region. I spent a lot of my childhood in the woods and prairies of my home. Growing up on a quiet tree farm, I spent many long hours out in the fields, usually exploring and looking for new places to hide or letting my imagination run wild; one day I was hunting dragons, a European explorer on America’s Frontier the next, more often than not on my own with only the company of the wind in the trees and the scurrying of small foraging creatures in the undergrowth.

No matter how many times I followed the same little deer trails out to the fields, there always seemed to be something new and exciting, particularly in Spring. Years later, this Spring is proving to be just as new and exciting as my childhood’s as our little business venture begins ramping up for the summer season here in Park Rapids. Rachel and I have had so many incredible opportunities that just seem to fall in our laps when the stars align. We’ve partnered with a fellow Midwestern beekeeper, originally from Iowa who vacations here in the Park Rapids area, and we’ll be really kicking off the season within the next week or two. More information will be posted to our Facebook page in the coming weeks that will include lots of photos and daily updates. I anticipate that this season is going to be a wonderful one, full of lots of learning experiences and firsts for the both of us.

We are so looking forward to the coming summer and we hope you are too. Despite the strangeness of 2020, we’re looking to the future in a positive light and with hope and determination.
